Festo strives to keep accidents to a bare minimum. For this reason, accident figures are continuously tracked and reported to the management. GRI 403-2, GRI 403-9 The number of loss time incidents (LTI) in our production facilities was 105 in 2023 (117 in 2022), which represents a slight reduction in the number of accidents. The loss time incident rate (LTIR) is defined as the number of occupational accidents per million hours worked. In 2023, the scope for calculating the accident frequency rate worldwide included accidents in Germany and our largest international production facilities (indirect and direct areas). However, the vast majority of accidents had only a minor impact. There were no serious accidents resulting in more than six months’ absence, and there were no fatal accidents. The main occupational accidents are cuts and accidents caused by falls, tripping, or slipping. For 2023, we once again recorded a slight improvement in terms of accidents resulting in an LTIR of 7.3 (8.1 in 2022). GRI 403-2, GRI 403-9 Lost working days due to accidents Downtime caused by accidents amounted to 6,895 hours (or 985 days) at the Festo locations in 2023. In 2022, this was 15,840 hours (or 2,263 days). In addition to the continuous improvement of occupational safety processes, the reason for the decline in the number of lost working days is the reduced accident severity. GRI 403-2, GRI 403-9 The accident statistics include occupational accidents that result in at least one lost day. Gender-specific differences are not currently recorded, so these are not taken into account in the occupational safety evaluation. And there are no plans to do so in future.
