noch bearbeiten Packaging Our packaging concept is continually being developed and optimized – as was the case in 2023. The following improvements were achieved in the past year. In our largest distribution warehouse in Rohrbach (Germany), product packaging and outer packaging for polyethylene bags were switched and increased to 80 percent PIR (post-industrial recyclates). At the same time, the material thickness was reduced. Our products are being evaluated as part of the global Low Paper Concepts project. Online user documentation is sufficient, and this saves more than 160 metric tons of paper per year. In 2023, our packaging concept was reviewed by an external partner – with potential savings for 2024. Planned measures include the following: within Europe, switching from single-use pallets to Euro pallets for transport and, at our plant in Bulgaria, replacing single- use boxes with circulating containers. Implementation is currently being reviewed. Initial results will be available in Q1 2024. Numerous measures were also implemented in 2023 in our international production network. In China, the material composition of the wooden pallets was changed, with a weight reduction of around ten percent and savings of more than 80 tons of wood per year. In India, reusable strips are used when stacking parcels instead of the previous stretch film. This measure saves around three tons of film per year. Our aim is to achieve the highest possible proportion of packaging made from renewable materials such as wood, paper, cardboard, and corrugated board. In 2023, this amounted to more than 96 percent of the weight of all packaging materials at our largest distribution warehouse in Rohrbach. We also aim to limit the amount of packaging we ship. This was just under 20 percent in 2023 – also for Germany. When compared at the inter- national level, the figures are in the same order of magnitude. GRI 301-1 We are striving to find the packaging solution that is as sustainable as possible for us. Isolated customer complaints are systematically tracked in order to continuously improve our packaging concept. Reusing transport packaging used within our international production and logistics network is one of our future goals. We can measure this proportion at our Asia hub in Shanghai (China): the reuse rate from our production plant in Jinan (China) is over 90 percent. At the Rohrbach plant, renewable materials account for more than 96 percent of the weight of all packaging materials. 58 59 1. Blue World 2. Strategy and Management 3.
