Festo Energy Saving Services On the road to becoming a CO2-neutral factory for our customers, cross-company industrial solutions are required that go far beyond our own product portfolio. The biggest lever Festo currently has with regard to climate protection is the reduction of Scope 3 emissions – specifically when the products sold are used by the customer (see diagram in chapter 3.1). This requires specialists with expertise to optimize the entire system. Festo Energy Saving Services – a tailor-made service program for optimizing pneumatic system efficiency in accordance with DIN EN ISO 11011 (compressed air energy efficiency audit) – are based on this holistic view. It serves to determine and optimally exploit compressed air savings potentials for the customer, enabling them to optimize their entire energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001. Festo is one of the few suppliers in the world to be certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with DIN EN ISO 11011 as a “specialist company for evaluating compressed air energy efficiency.” Festo Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit With the audit, the customer immediately identifies the weak points and reliably knows which measures are worthwhile for their compressed air system. Our auditors assess the compressed air generation (1) as well as the compressed air preparation and quality (2) and the compressed air network (3). They also perform exemplary leak detection on selected pneumatic systems, investigate potential savings, and check pneumatic efficiency (4). To round off the audit offer, a concept for a monitoring system can be created upon customer’s request (5). Finally, a detailed report is produced with precise documentation of the data and prioritized recommenda- tions for optimizing compressed air energy efficiency through potential savings. The documentation also shows the CO2 emission values of the compressed air system, which many companies require for their sus- tainability reports – for example, in accordance with GRI or GHG – and use in their climate strategy. Festo sustainability review of pneumatics As part of the new “Sustainability review of pneumatics,” pneumatic applications on existing systems are subjected to a deep dive. In addition to the complete detection of leaks in a production plant, relevant pneumatic applications are examined for their energy efficiency and sustainability, and specific improvement measures are proposed and implemented. For our customers, in addition to significantly reduced compressed air and energy consumption, this almost always means greater system availability and a longer service life of the installed components, as they are better matched to the respective operating conditions. In 2023, we trained and empowered around 50 Festo partners around the world to offer this service to even more customers. Festo Energy Saving Services portal The web-based Festo Energy Saving Services portal and the associated app offer our customers numerous benefits. They can use the portal and app to document the energy efficiency measures developed as part of the Festo compressed air energy efficiency audits, such as the reduction of pressure drops or the elimination of leaks, quantify potential savings and CO2 emissions, implement repair measures more quickly, and monitor those measures in real time. Our portal is also ideal for customers who want to perform leakage testing and inspection of pneumatic components themselves. By purchasing a license to use the portal, they have access to all features and can efficiently conduct their own inspection and leakage checks. If desired, our customers have the opportunity to take part in an Energy Efficiency Workshop. In this workshop, they learn how to identify, document, and quantify savings measures in their compressed air systems. Go to the portal: energysavingservices.festo.com Documented savings potential The focus is on the Festo Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit, which is available across the globe and is carried out by our specialist auditors. In 2022, 425 projects were carried out worldwide with a calculated CO2 savings potential of 20,974 metric tons in total. This amount is made up of the leaks determined by means of specific leak location and the total savings potential estimated for the first time by the Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit. Since 2012, we have been able to identify potential CO2 savings of 89,115 metric tons in customer projects.  GRI 302-5 5 Monitoring system concept 3 Analysis of the distribution of compressed air 16% Savings 1 Analysis of compressed air generation 34% Savings 4 Analysis of pneumatic applications 49% Savings 2 Analysis of compressed air preparation 1% Savings Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit 68 69 1.
