Accident avoidance and prevention are at the forefront of our approach to prevention. At all Festo locations, the occupational safety department supports and advises all areas in establishing a safety-oriented occupational safety culture, based on company guidelines and compliance with local legal requirements. Control and networking in the Festo occupational safety management system takes place in the central safety department at headquarters.  GRI 403-6 Experts are in regular contact with each other via the Festo occupational safety network and make use of the existing synergies. This increases global knowledge of occupational health and safety in the company as well as the overarching use of measures to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses.  GRI 403-7 Global management system The global standards of Festo’s internal global management system for occupational health and safety are based on the ISO 45001 standard. The occupational health and safety policy as well as the minimum requirements are described in the company policy on health and safety at work and in the international handbook and apply throughout the company. These documents are reviewed on an ongoing basis. In addition to the legal requirements, additional findings from audits and contributions from the Festo occupational safety network ensure that it is up to date.  GRI 403-1, GRI 403-4, GRI 403-8 Festo has already implemented an ISO 45001-certified occupational health and safety management system at its locations in Budapest, São Paulo, and Shanghai. 5.5 Occupational Health and Safety The other Festo locations with production and logistics have local systems, also based on ISO 45001. All locations are evaluated internally with regard to the maturity level of a ISO 45001 management system. Gaps and nonconformance are continuously analyzed, critically examined, and successively dealt with.  GRI 403-8 Risk assessment and prevention The risk assessment is carried out by the appointed managers and advised by the safety specialists who guide, train, and support the managers and safety officers. Employees are also involved and heard in this process. Based on the results, the necessary and meaningful conclusions for dealing with the hazards are defined and effectively implemented. The priority when dealing with risks is first and foremost to avoid them. The focus is then placed on technical and organizational measures designed to reduce risks. If this is not possible, the use of personal protective equipment is necessary. Training on all measures and awareness of active occupational safety round out the measures. This also includes preventive medical care or behavioral measures to prevent hazards and stresses.  GRI 403-2, GRI 403-3, GRI 403-4, GRI 403-5, GRI 403-6, GRI 403-7 External employees of suppliers and service providers as well as leasing staff are integrated into the local occupational safety systems. External visitors are also instructed in accordance with the conduct and safety guidelines.  GRI 2-8, GRI 403-4 At Festo, occupational safety and health protection are essential components of the corporate philosophy. Proactively ensuring and maintaining the health and safety of our employees is always our top priority. 98 99 1. Blue World 2. Strategy and Management 3. Climate Protection and Resource Efficiency 4.
