Seeing time in a different light
Time is everywhere, yet difficult to grasp. We all feel time pass-
ing. But we can only see it when something moves. One particu-
larly vivid example of the passing of time is the Harmonices
Mundi in the Festo TechnologyCentre. This technical work of art,
which has been on display at Festo since the building opened in
2001, consists of a carillon, an astronomical clock (Astrolabium,
shown on the right) and the calendar clock Horologium Mundi.
Both clocks show the time, Coordinated Universal Time and the
positions of the stars with incredible accuracy.
Time also plays a significant role in business. Efficient processes
increase competitiveness. To see how this works in practice,
