I
n theearlydaysof automotiveproduc-
tion, theaxleswere clampedonsteel
work tablesandadjusted roughlyusing
probesanddial gauges. Finalmeasure-
mentof thechassiswasnot carriedoutun-
til the“endof the line”. This last step took
up to tenminutes tocarryout andaffected
theoutput rateof thevehicleplant. Today,
adjustment isautomatedandmeets the
output requirementsofmanufacturers
of vehicleswithmulti-link rear axles.
AuEKasselGmbH implementedanew rear
axleadjustment system for awell-known
German carmanufacturer in just nine
months.Once theaxlehasbeenadjusted,
it canbe installedstraightaway in the
vehicle. Basedonagantrydesignand
equippedwithdrivesandvalve terminals
from Festo, it adjusts trackand camber in
less than60seconds.
