On19November 2014, thenew FestoAutoMotionCentre inBilbaoopened itsdoors.With thisnew centreof excellence
at theAIC-Automotive IntelligenceCenter, Festohasstrengthened its commitment to theautomotive industry. Technology
transfer, open innovationand industry-specific training& consultingsupport theautomotive industry in termsof increas-
ing competitiveness, differentiationandefficiency.
At the“Ready for the futureof theautomotive industry”conferenceheld in tandemwith theopeningof thecentre, Xavier
Segura,GeneralManagerof FestoSpain, described thenewFestoAutoMotionCentreas the“gateway to themarket”. Itwill
support thedevelopmentof newprojects for theautomotive industryat international level.Dr. AnsgarKriwet said that the
objectiveof thecentre is“topromotecreativity inan innovativeenvironment”. The focuswill beon increasingproductivity
andsimplifyingautomation for Festocustomersaswell ascompetency in theareaof trainingand learningsystems.

Theaimof Researchers’Night inBratislavawas to inspireyoung
people to takean interest in technologyand tomotivate them
to takeupascientific career. Theeventwasheldat theendof
September 2014 inSlovakia for pupils, studentsandother tech-
nologyenthusiasts.With themottobeing“Science isAdventure”,
theyoungaudiencewas introduced to topics from thefieldsof
scienceand technology ina funway. Festowaspresent too,with
several bionicsprojectsand interestingpresentations.TheBionic
LearningNetworkshowcased itsdiversitywith, amongst others,
theBionicHandlingAssistant, theBionicOpter, theSmartBird
and theAirJelly (see image).
